Ok, lots of work over the last two months for not very much gain. I have been continuing to work up the family tree from Keziah Gurley who married Henry "Judge" Sharp. Keziah's parents were Edwards Gurley and Mary Davis. I hit the wall on Edwards Gurley's line with John Gurley as his father, but I cannot identify John's father. So I headed up Mary Davis' line. Her parents were James Davis and Aley Handley. BUT I can't get past them. There are just two many Davises in North Carolina at this time (mid 1700s) and it seems every other one was named James.
I have documented what I know in FT-070-01, which is the Family Tree document for James Davis and Aley Handley.
Also, I had to add a new "Change Log Page" to the website. I guess I can only have so many "sections" on a webpage, and the previous Change Log had reached the limit of sections. So I made the original Change Log page #1 and added a page #2 for logging newer changes to the website.

Hello, and I am finally getting back on track for more regular updates. I have continued working on the Gurley family, this time trying to identify John Gurley's parents. In my last update, I mentioned that I identified John Gurley as Edwards Gurley's father.
I had 2 options for John Gurley's parents - (1) George Gurley, Sr., and (2) Joseph Gourley and Susan Wise. RD-023-01 shows the work that I think conclusively proves that George Gurley Sr. was not John Gurley's father. George Gurley Sr. did have a son named John Gurley, but that John Gurley was still in Southampton County, VA when our John Gurley was already in Johnston County, NC.
As to the Joseph Gurley/Susan Wise option, I see this mentioned in several places, but none of these places mention any sources to verify these claims. I have messaged a person on Geneanet.org who says she had a Family Tree showing this connection, but we will see if she responds.
At any rate, I have hit a brick wall on the Gurleys, so I think I am going to step away from this line of the family and go work on other ancestor lines. If any new information shows up, I will revisit this branch of the family.
